Landscape lighting supply and technical support for
builders and contractors
When you’re pricing or delivering a project, you need a lighting supplier who can do more than send a catalogue. You need quality fittings that suit the site, clear information on availability and lead times, plus the technical details your team needs before products are ordered or installed.
Light on Landscape is a Melbourne lighting specialist and project supplier. We work with builders, landscape contractors and electrical contractors on high-end residential and bespoke commercial projects, supplying interior, exterior, architectural and landscape lighting from a range of manufacturers.
Whether you need to source specified fittings, check availability, find a suitable alternative or confirm what needs to be allowed for on site, we’ll help you resolve the product side clearly.
We bring over thirty years’ experience in garden, landscape and architectural lighting to every project. From our Armadale studio, we supply lighting products for projects across Australia.
Find products for your project
The Product Finder gives you a faster way to search our range and build a project shortlist before requesting a quote. Filter products by category, application, colour temperature, beam angle, IP rating, finish and power type, then review the relevant product details in one place.
Add products and quantities to a quote request as you go. This gives your team and ours a clear starting point for confirming suitability, availability, technical requirements and project pricing.
Premium interior and exterior lighting by application
Our range covers nine product families across interior, exterior, architectural and landscape lighting applications.
For builders and contractors, the value is being able to bring the fittings and supporting components into one coordinated project supply. That gives you one point of contact for product options, technical information, availability and quote requests.
The range is selected for projects where durability, finish, installation requirements and future serviceability matter. It is not a lowest-price product catalogue.
Accent fittings highlight specimen trees, textured walls, sculpture and garden features. The range includes spike-mounted uplights, surface-mounted fittings and tree-mount options, many operating on 12V or 24V low-voltage systems. Materials include solid brass, copper, powder-coated aluminium and composites, with IP44 or above ratings for ground-level applications. Adjustable fittings allow the final aiming to be refined on site after planting and other landscape elements are in place.
Bespoke lighting is available where a standard product does not meet the architectural requirements of the project. We can supply pendants, wall lights, pillar lights and unpowered floor lanterns when the architecture calls for something made for the project. Scale, finish, glass and mounting details are resolved before fabrication begins. These pieces are made to order, with drawings and approvals completed before manufacture. Because bespoke pieces are made to order, timing should be confirmed before selections are finalised.
Downlights provide functional illumination for soffits, eaves, alfresco ceilings and covered outdoor spaces, with fixed fittings for broad coverage, adjustable fittings for highlighting architectural features or grazing textured walls and pendant options for pergolas and exposed structures. We can help confirm the available product information for the selected fitting, including cut-out size, ceiling depth, voltage, driver requirements, IP rating, finish and installation documentation.
Inground fittings provide uplighting and wayfinding where a low-profile fitting is needed in paving, decking or garden beds. They can be useful for highlighting trees, walls, architectural details and circulation areas, but the selected fitting needs to suit the location, exposure and installation conditions. We can help confirm the available product information, including material, IP rating, IK rating where relevant, drainage requirements, cable details, accessories and manufacturer documentation.
Linear lighting creates continuous illumination for wall grazing, under-eave runs, steps and architectural details. Exterior systems are often sealed products with remote drivers, so product length, driver location, cable access, site measurements and installation documentation should be confirmed before ordering. We can help check the available product information so the selected fitting suits the required run, location, finish and method of installation.
Path & Step lighting provides controlled illumination for garden paths, driveways, steps, walls and risers. The range includes post-mounted lights for garden beds and surface-mounted or recessed fittings for built elements. We can help confirm the available product information for the selected fitting, including mounting method, wall-box or recess requirements, voltage, finish, glare-control accessories and installation documentation.
Exterior wall lights work across façades, entries, pillars, fences, courtyards and outdoor rooms, with down-facing, up-facing and bi-directional fittings in mains-voltage and low-voltage formats. We can help confirm the available product information for the selected fitting, including mounting method, wall-box or conduit requirements, voltage, driver requirements, finish, IP rating, glare-control accessories and installation documentation.
Wet-area fittings are designed for fountains, ponds, reflection pools and water features. They are not swimming-pool lights. The range includes sealed IP68 fittings in materials such as 316 stainless steel, solid copper and cast brass. We can help confirm the available product information for the selected fitting, including material, cable length, transformer or driver requirements, servicing access and manufacturer documentation.
A reliable lighting system depends on the supporting components as much as the visible fittings. We supply transformers, drivers, low-voltage cable, IP68 joining systems, mounting hardware, extension posts and glare-control accessories as part of a coordinated project package rather than as loose retail items. We can help confirm the available product information for the selected components, including compatibility, cable and joining requirements, mounting method, servicing access and manufacturer documentation.
Project lighting supply with clear timing and product information
The earlier we see the plans, schedule or product references, the easier it is to confirm lead times, installation requirements and anything that needs to be allowed for before rough-in. That applies whether the specification is settled or still being worked out.
We’re set up for project orders where lighting needs to be selected, priced and supplied as part of a broader build.
When you call with a question, you’ll get a straight answer.
We can also consult on the lighting approach, help resolve product selection where the direction isn’t finalised and provide CAD documentation where the project warrants it. CAD is a separately scoped paid servic
What to send us for a quote or product review
The more information we have at the beginning, the more useful our response can be. Where available, send:
- plans or relevant elevations
- the lighting schedule or product references
- quantities
- required dates
- voltage or control requirements
- finishes
- known site-exposure conditions
- products that need to match existing fittings
- the architect, landscape designer or specifier details where approval may be required
You don’t need every detail resolved before contacting us. We can help identify what is still needed from the product side.
Lead times, availability and trade pricing
We’ll confirm what is available, what needs to be ordered and whether the timing is likely to affect the build.
Some commonly specified products may be available quickly, while others are ordered to suit the project requirements. Lead times vary by product, finish, quantity, product configuration and current availability.
Bespoke products are made to order and should be allowed for as early as possible. Timing depends on the brief, drawings, approvals, materials, fabrication and the level of detail required.
We’ll confirm current availability and realistic lead times when we quote. If a product is unlikely to meet the required date, we can discuss whether an appropriate alternative is available before the issue becomes a late-stage problem. Any alternative that changes the design intent, appearance or performance should be approved by the original specifier before it is supplied.
We quote based on the project, selected products and quantities. Trade pricing is available for landscape and electrical contractors. Contact us with your requirements and we’ll confirm pricing, availability and lead times.
Working from an architect's or landscape designer's specification
We’ve spent over thirty years working with garden, landscape and architectural lighting, so our advice is based on more than product documents. We can help with practical questions about suitability, compatibility, installation requirements and the details that often cause problems if they’re missed early.
For most products we can provide specification sheets, installation guides, electrical information, beam-angle details and wiring information. What’s available varies by manufacturer, so confirm the documentation requirements before ordering.
This information helps your team and the licensed contractor plan for voltage and driver requirements, cut-outs and clearances, mounting and wall boxes, transformer locations, cable access, compatible accessories, drainage and access for future servicing.
We provide product-side technical guidance and practical advice based on experience. Final electrical design, circuit layout, cable sizing, installation, testing and certification remain the responsibility of the licensed contractor.
CAD documentation is available on request as a separately scoped paid service.
Technical support for contractors and electricians
Many projects arrive with a lighting schedule or product references already established.
Where the specified products are within our available range, we can supply in line with the documented selection. If a product is unavailable, unsuitable for the site conditions or unlikely to meet the required date, we can suggest an alternative and explain the practical differences.
Any substitution that changes the finish, scale, light distribution or design intent should be approved by the original architect or designer before it is supplied.
If you’re pricing a job with a lighting specification and need a quote, send us the schedule. We’ll confirm availability, lead times and pricing.

Landscape lighting installation considerations for builders and contractors
Low-voltage landscape lighting
Most exterior garden-lighting systems use either 12V or 24V products. Before installation begins, the project team needs to consider total connected load, cable run lengths, voltage drop, transformer or driver locations, protection of exterior joins, access for maintenance and testing before cables are concealed or buried.
We can advise on product-side requirements and provide available manufacturer information. Final circuit design, cable sizing, installation and certification remain the responsibility of the licensed contractor.
Inground fittings
Inground lighting requires careful drainage and cable protection. Install the fitting in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, in free-draining material with a clear path for water to escape.
Canister sleeves can protect the fitting, assist with drainage and make future removal easier where they are suitable for the selected product. Cable joins need particular attention. Poorly protected joins can allow moisture into the system even when the fitting itself is correctly sealed.
Coastal environments
Salt air places significant pressure on exterior-lighting materials and finishes. Standard powder-coated aluminium can deteriorate quickly in exposed coastal locations.
For exposed Australian coastal sites, specify solid brass, copper, marine-grade stainless steel or aluminium with a genuine marine-grade powder-coat system. The Mornington Peninsula is one example where wind, salt spray and persistent exposure can quickly reveal whether a product is suitable for the location.
Further inland or in protected areas, powder-coated aluminium may be entirely appropriate. Product selection should follow the actual exposure conditions rather than a blanket material rule.
Landscape lighting products selected for quality and serviceability
Aesthetics matter, but the fitting also needs to perform once the project is complete. We consider the materials, seals, fasteners, drivers, manufacturer support and future serviceability of the products we supply.
The real test is not how a fitting looks when it arrives. It is how it performs after exposure to Australian heat, UV, irrigation, weather and regular use.
Materials and construction
Exterior products need materials and finishes that suit their intended environment. Depending on the location, that may include solid brass, copper, marine-grade stainless steel, suitable composites or high-quality powder-coated aluminium. We also look at gaskets, fasteners, drivers, cable entries and whether the construction makes sense for the intended application.
Serviceability
Exterior lighting needs to be maintainable after handover. Can the fitting be removed for service? Are replacement parts available? Can a lamp, LED module or driver be replaced? Is the manufacturer likely to continue supporting the product?
These details make future maintenance easier and reduce the likelihood of avoidable replacement work.
Fewer avoidable callbacks
Some low-cost fittings look fine on day one. The difference shows after they have spent time in the garden, exposed to heat, UV, irrigation and weather.
When a fitting fails early, the cost is not just the replacement part. It can mean another site visit, difficult conversations after handover and another product heading to landfill.
That is why we favour well-made, serviceable fittings, compatible accessories and products suited to the conditions. Together with correct installation, they help reduce premature failures and unnecessary replacement work.
