Specifying Installation Accessories

We supply accessories as part of complete lighting system specifications. Our focus is on providing reliable, durable components that meet our standards for quality and compatibility with our fixture range.

Product Categories

  • Lamps
We supply a range of lamp types compatible with our fixtures. Lamp selection depends on the fixture, desired colour temperature, beam angle and output requirements. Lamp specifications must match the fixture’s voltage, wattage capacity and lamp holder type.
  • Cables
Low-voltage cable for exterior installations in various gauges. Cable gauge (thickness) is determined by cable run length, total load and voltage to prevent voltage drop over distance. We can assist in calculating the correct cable specification for your project to ensure system performance.
  • Transformers (Drivers)
Weatherproof transformers for low-voltage (12V/24V) lighting systems. Transformer capacity must match or exceed the total wattage of all fixtures on the circuit. We supply quality drivers with appropriate IP ratings for exterior installations and can recommend the correct transformer configuration for your system design.
  • IP68 Joining Kits
Waterproof connection systems for exterior cable joins. IP68 rating ensures complete moisture protection even in submerged or constantly wet conditions. All exterior cable connections must use properly rated joining systems to prevent water ingress and system failure. We strongly recommend IP68-rated joins for all outdoor installations.
  • Mounting Hardware
Plates, arms and brackets for fixture installation. Mounting hardware includes surface plates for hard surfaces, wall arms for offset mounting and adjustable brackets for precise aiming. Hardware must be specified to match the fixture and installation surface material.
  • Extension Posts
Posts for elevating accent lights and path fixtures above ground cover or vegetation. Extension posts allow correct fixture height without moving the installation position. Available in various heights and finishes to match fixture specifications.
  • Glare Control Accessories
Snoots, hex cell baffles and glare guards for controlling light spill and reducing glare. These accessories are critical for responsible lighting design where neighbour comfort, Dark Sky principles or precise beam control is required. Glare control accessories can be retrofitted to many existing fixtures.

Our approach to accessories

We only stock products that we know will last well and work properly with our lighting fixtures. Our accessory selection is informed by our own installation experience going back over 30 years. We understand how products perform in Australian conditions and specify accordingly.

We provide expert advice on product selection and installation methods for contractors and installers. This advice is based on practical experience with what works reliably over time, not just manufacturer specifications.

Quality standards

The materials and construction quality of installation accessories directly impact system longevity and reliability. We prioritise products that meet our standards for:

  • Durability in Australian conditions
UV resistance, weather tolerance and temperature cycling.
  • Electrical reliability
Proper ratings, robust connections and long service life.
  • Compatibility
Confirmed compatibility with our fixture range.
  • Serviceability
Accessible for future maintenance and replacement when required.

Professional Installation

Installation accessories must be specified and installed correctly to ensure system reliability. We supply these products as part of professional lighting installations, not for loose retail sale. For complex installations, cable sizing, transformer selection and joining methods should be determined by a licensed electrician familiar with low-voltage exterior lighting systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

We supply installation accessories as part of specified lighting projects. We are a design consultancy, not a retail supplier of loose components. We provide the complete system – fixtures, accessories and technical advice – documented for your project’s specific requirements. This ensures correct specification and system compatibility.

Cable gauge depends on three factors: cable run length, total wattage load and system voltage. Undersized cable causes voltage drop, resulting in dim or flickering lights at the end of the run. Our team can calculate the correct cable specification for your project based on these parameters. For complex installations, consult with a licensed electrician.

The terms are used interchangeably in lighting applications. Both convert mains voltage (240V) to low voltage (12V or 24V) for fixture operation. “Driver” is more commonly used for LED systems, while “transformer” is traditional terminology. The critical specification is ensuring the transformer/driver capacity (wattage) matches or exceeds your total fixture load.

IP68-rated joins provide complete protection against moisture ingress. Standard electrical connections will fail when exposed to moisture, causing system failure and potential safety hazards. Even connections that appear dry initially can be compromised by condensation, ground moisture or water migration along cable. IP68 joins are the minimum standard for reliable outdoor installations.

No. Standard electrical tape is not rated for moisture protection and will fail in exterior conditions. All outdoor cable connections must use properly rated IP68 joining systems. We strongly recommend against any improvised connection methods. The cost of proper joining kits is minimal compared to the cost and disruption of system failure and re-excavation for repairs.

Snoots are cylindrical shields that extend forward from a fixture to narrow the beam and reduce side light spill. They are specified where precise beam control is required or where light needs to be prevented from spilling into neighbouring properties or windows. Snoots can be added to many accent lights and wall fixtures for improved glare control and more focused illumination.

Calculate the total wattage of all fixtures on the circuit, then select a transformer with capacity at least 20% higher than this total. This safety margin accounts for voltage variations and prevents operating the transformer at maximum capacity, which reduces lifespan. For example, if your total load is 100W, specify a minimum 120W transformer. We can assist with transformer sizing for your project.

Extension posts elevate accent lights and path fixtures above low vegetation, ground cover or mulch that might otherwise obstruct the light. They allow correct fixture height without relocating the installation position. Extension posts are available in various heights and are finished to match the fixture. They are particularly useful in garden beds where plantings grow over time.

Many fixtures can accept glare control accessories such as snoots, baffles or glare guards as retrofits. This is useful when an existing installation is causing light spill issues that need to be addressed. Contact us with your fixture model to confirm compatibility and availability of retrofit glare control accessories.

We can source specialist accessories for specific project requirements. If your project requires particular mounting hardware, unusual cable specifications or specialist glare control devices, describe your requirement and we’ll advise on availability and lead time. Our experience with diverse installations means we often have access to solutions beyond our standard catalogue.
