Fitzroy House

The charm and potential of this old jam factory in Melbourne’s inner north enticed this professional couple to ‘cross the Yarra’ to experience a brand new urban lifestyle, of walking distance from a vibrant café scene and key amenities.

Bordered by the original brick perimeter of the 19th century jam factory, this stunning build by SJB Architects and stylish contemporary garden truly gives you the feel of an urban oasis, cushioned from the hustle and bustle of North Fitzroy outside.

The home features large glass windows for temperate trans-seasonal living and to remove the divide between the outdoor and indoor living spaces.

The outdoor living space is a key focal point for entertaining with family and friends. Our brief was to light the garden with subtle highlights to add warmth and atmosphere and to highlight the original factory wall to accentuate the period character. Our client was delighted by the inviting ambience of the outdoor space achieved when looking out at through the glass doors.
